Tanks for reminding me of Laura's work, but even more for introducing me to Dan's, I'd not seen that work before and it's just my cup of tea.
I saw something recently and meant to send you a link (but my brain forgot within seconds, bah). It was someone who had taken photographs of china figurines as they broke, they looked quite amazing, at first I thought they'd been made that way but then as I saw more it was clear they were being broken.
