I really should stop stealing things from my friends, but if I don't post this now i'll be kicking myself later. This is taken almost word for word from the wonderful Allyson Shaw, who has become one of my greatest partner's in crime since she moved over to the Uk from the US three (or is it four?) years ago!
Salty: three tales of sorrow is an exhibition in three parts by Edith Abeyta that runs at El Camino College until December 14th. This is what Edith had to say about the work and Ally's involvement with it:
The catalog for the exhibition is a specially commissioned three-part prose and poetry volume by Allyson Shaw Her text is integral to each tale/ installation and its optimum utilization would be to read each corresponding section while viewing the installation. An ever better scenario (is it possible to exceed optimization?) is to have a friend reading it to you while traveling through the exhibition.
An almost daily documentation of the installation progress can be viewed on Marshall Astor's site and there's a brief explanation of the show by Susanna Meires on the college web page.
