patchwork

Something rather shocking has happened, after five years of thinking about making patchwork, I suddenly made this last night. Of course it's not finished, and possibly never will be, but this is the closest i've come to making a quilt in my life! I realised that it was highly unlikely that I would wake up one day and be the kind of person who enjoys things like measuring carefully and working in detail, so once that was out the way I decided I could just make patchwork Camilla-style ie badly measured out and pretty wonky.

This is made from the fabric that Ravenhill sent me, along with bits of vintage fabrics and some new pieces that i'd been saving. It looks incredibly girly to me now, but I think when it's finished (ha!) it might be a bit toned down.

The only thing that stopped me with this was my sewing machine started to misbehave- and anyone who sews knows that when the sewing machine starts to do strange things it's a message to tell you to stop what you're doing and go to bed.

I love the wonkiness, I find most quilts a bit too anal and perfect and boring but this is cool.

It's stunning! and wonkiness is cool in quilting anyway - just check out Denyse Schmidt, such great wonky quilts!

love the colours and the Camilla style patching is fabulous! I'd love to see the finished quilt. Whenever it's done :)
